About Richard Rimer

Richard Rimer is a dedicated Brand Protection Lawyer and the founder of Initiating Protection, a boutique law firm focused on helping small businesses safeguard their most valuable assets — their brands.

For nearly 20 years, Richard worked at large law firms, representing major corporations in protecting their intellectual property. Time and again, he encountered a troubling pattern: on the other side of these disputes were often small businesses, unrepresented and unaware they were crossing legal lines. The most common phrase he heard from these companies was, “But I didn’t know.”

That simple phrase ignited a passion in Richard to level the playing field. He founded Initiating Protection to give small businesses the proactive legal support they deserve — with clear advice, predictable costs, and strategies tailored to their growth.

Richard’s ideal clients are businesses on the cusp of a “scalable event” — moments when increased exposure and success can inadvertently invite legal risks. Whether through a new marketing campaign or a product launch, these milestones make brand protection crucial.

Today, Richard combines his big-firm experience with a heart for small business advocacy, ensuring that entrepreneurs can grow their brands with confidence, knowing their hard work is protected.
